Mission Statement

Kayas College aims to increase community capacity through academic upgrading and training programs while maintaining a respect for culture.

Vision

Using modern technology, Kayas College will become the standard for all First Nation training providers in both education and training delivery on-reserves. Our model will represent the most effective approach for addressing the inequality on and off reserve communities.

Our Focus

Academic Upgrading

Adult learners living on-reserve are able to access basic and high-school education through Kayas’ academic upgrading program.

Capacity Building

Training opportunities enable community members with skilled labour and increased employability, greatly benefitting the individual and the community.

Respecting Culture

All training initiatives, programs, and services that Kayas College provides are considerate of the unique cultural and socio-economic environment of the people and communities of Little Red River Cree Nation.

Message from the Director

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Kayas Cultural College, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about Little Red River Cree Nation. Kayas is a non-profit organization run primarily through grants and government funding that is constantly looking to increase the services that can be offered. Whatever you or your organization may do, here you will discover a variety of projects and training programs we offer to the community. We look forward to showing you our founding years, current projects, and our aspirations for the future.

At Kayas, the aim is to help build capacity within the community. We have developed a variety of programs and training opportunities that focus exclusively on helping give community members an opportunity to increase their quality of life. At Kayas, adults upgrade their education to a high school competency level. They are also able to register in recognized post-secondary training in partnerships with other Alberta colleges, such as Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) or Northern Lakes College (NLC). We offer a myriad of community outreach programs for members and courses that help certify individuals to have a better likelihood of gaining employment. We support the local schools with creative learning opportunities that keep students motivated and engaged in learning. Additionally, safety training tickets required for direct employment in high-demand fields around local areas are offered at each of our sites.

Thank you for visiting and please feel free to contact us if you would like any additional information.
